NSEC Support Conservation Themed Art Installation made of Recycled Christmas Trees at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm

At the beginning of the month our Recycling Advisor, Alice McWatters, visited Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm to support them in the creation of their new art installation created from recycled Christmas Trees as part of the Recycled Christmas Tree Project. New for 2026, the art installation made from the trees collected showcases the outline of a bear and a cub, raising awareness of conservation initiatives and showcasing all the different ways natural materials can be repurposed.

The initiative which started 6 years ago encourages North Somerset residents to recycle their old Christmas trees by either dropping them off at designated drop off points across the district, or booking a slot in for the trees to be collected and taken to our Aisecome Way Transfer Station to be recycled. Volunteers from North Somerset Council, North Somerset Environment Company, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, Weston Hospicecare, St Peter’s Hospicecare and Glendale Services each year work together to help run the project which has raised over £190,000 and repurposed around 13,000 trees since it started in 2020. This year’s project has been the most successful yet, with over 6,000 trees being recycled and repurposed which is a new record and shows the fantastic effort residents in North Somerset are putting into recycling, something which has been very visible since the Service Change in June 2025.

We are incredibly proud to support such a great cause and to work alongside charities that truly sit at the heart of our local community.
