    We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Commercial Vehicle Technician to be part of its commercial maintenance team, responsible for the safe and effective maintenance of our high profile, front-line fleet. The role is based at our Weston super Mare workshop facility.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Maintain and repair vehicles, plant and equipment to DVSA and manufacturer standards.

    • Carry out inspections, testing prep and complete service documentation.

    • Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and arrange recovery or off-site support.

    • Promote safe working practices and ensure equipment is properly maintained.

    • Provide technical support and mentor apprentices.

    • Keep records accurate, the workshop organised and build good customer relationships.

    • Carry our preventative maintenance.

    • Perform necessary work to prepare vehicles for their MOT tests and ensure they comply with regulatory standards. 

    • Diagnostics and Repairs - Utilise advanced diagnostic equipment and techniques to identify and resolve complex faults in vehicle systems, including auto-electrics and other complex systems. 

    The ideal candidate will have:  

    • Apprenticeship trained inclusive of City & Guilds HGV parts 1,2,3 qualification or equivalent. 

    •  An LGV Class C / HGV Class 2 licence is desirable, but not essential. 

    • Ability to work independently both safely and competently in a physically demanding role. 

    • Proven experience of maintaining commercial vehicles to a high standard inclusive of servicing, repair and fault diagnosis. 

    • Excellent understanding of vehicle and body electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, particularly in the waste management sector.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen at North Somerset Environment Company (NSEC) to lead our Highways team, based at Sandford, near Weston-super-Mare.

    Working as a member of the senior leadership team, you will have full accountability for the safe, efficient, and effective management of our Highways Cyclical and Reactive Maintenance Contract with North Somerset Council which commenced in April 2024. You’ll deliver on the annual Winter Maintenance Plan, cyclical services e.g. gully cleansing, and reactive maintenance such as pothole repairs and patching.

    In the last 12 months, NSEC have proven to provide these services at best value and to an exceptional quality standard. We’re now searching for a candidate who can sustain and enhance those standards but also develop the business area and its capacity for growth and commercialisation.

    We’d be interested to hear from candidates who have proven experience in managing highway maintenance or similar operations, especially with a service delivery management background.

    What you’ll be doing:

    We are currently seeking a Senior Team Leader to contribute to the overall aims of the company through the efficient and compliant supervision of the Commercial Vehicle Maintenance Workshop. The role is based at our Weston super Mare workshop facility.

    What you’ll be doing:

    ·       Supervise the workshop team, making sure staff are trained, supported, and working safely in line with company policies.

    ·       Oversee fleet servicing, repairs and diagnostics, ensuring all work meets legal, manufacturer and quality standards while keeping downtime to a minimum.

    ·       Promote a strong safety culture, investigate incidents, and ensure equipment is operated and maintained correctly.

    ·       Manage resources effectively through good planning, productivity, stock control and accurate record keeping.

    ·       Provide technical guidance and make sound decisions on repairs or replacements, balancing safety, cost and efficiency.

    ·       Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors and customers, ensuring value for money and timely delivery of reports and actions.

    The ideal candidate will have:  

    ·       HGV City & Guilds level 3 or equivalent.

    ·       Supervisory NVQ Level 3.

    ·       Ability to work independently both safely and competently in a physically demanding role. 

    ·       Commercial Vehicle Technician (HGV) – 5+ years.

    ·       Knowledge and application of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation inc. COSHH.

    ·       Up to date knowledge of legislation in relation to vehicle maintenance and operator licencing.

    We are currently seeking a professional Supervisor to oversee the operation of our Household Waste and Recycling Centres and Waste Transfer Stations. Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, you will lead the HWRC team.

    What you’ll be doing:

    · The position will involve managing three waste Household Waste Recycling Centres in North Somerset, duties will also include assisting within the Waste Transfer Stations when required. Reporting the Senior Supervisor providing updates through KPI and daily reports.

    · Providing support and mentoring to the departments team leaders and staff, identifying new and potential commercial work streams.

    · Providing technical support to the recycling team, North Somerset Council and members of the public.

    · Deputise for the Senior Supervisor when required.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    · Current WAMITAB COTC Level 4 Qualified (treatment/transfer) or working towards.

    · Full driving licence (clean preferred).

    · Class 1 or 2 HGV licence (Working towards Class 1).

    · IOSH.

    · Forklift, 360 or Loading Shovel certificate
