Team NSEC takes on the Weston Half Marathon for Two Incredible Local Charities

A dedicated team from North Somerset Environment Company is gearing up to take on the Weston Half Marathon, all in support of two life-changing local charities: Weston Hospicecare and The Monkey Tree Charity.

Our runners, Stuart Jellings, Bryan Menzies, Shane Young, Robyn Southam, Bruce Grime, Craig Bidwell, and Tawnie Wilkinson, are lacing up their trainers not just for the challenge, but with a shared purpose: to give back to our community and raise vital funds for two causes that make a real difference.

Weston Hospicecare provides expert, compassionate end-of-life care to people living with life-limiting illnesses across Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset. Their dedicated team supports not only patients but also families, friends, and carers, offering guidance, comfort, and emotional support during the most difficult times. Their care goes beyond medicine, it's deeply personal, delivered with empathy and kindness, and it’s only possible thanks to donations from the public.

The Monkey Tree Charity, meanwhile, supports children and young adults receiving treatment for terminal or life-limiting illnesses at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, the Bristol Children's Hospital, and the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit. The charity provides a free on-loan wheelchair service, giving families access to vital mobility support at a time when they need it most. Both organisations represent the very best of community care, and we’re proud to support their work.

At NSEC, we live and work in North Somerset. These charities are part of our community, supporting people who may be our neighbours, friends, or family. Taking on the Weston Half Marathon is our way of giving something back.

We’re calling on our supporters, colleagues, friends, and the wider community to help us reach our fundraising goal. Whether it’s £5 or £50, every donation goes directly to Weston Hospicecare and The Monkey Tree Charity, helping them continue their vital services.
